ABOUT US

The ESG Association of India (ESGAI) seeks to be a positive force in the ESG arena. Its aim  is to contribute to quality economic growth in a just society.  It will focus on the troika of the Environment, Social  and Governance dimensions which reduce  risk, capture new business opportunities, enhance capital flows and  lower the cost of capital for businesses.

The ESG Association of India is a platform that will help share solutions to confront challenges in these critical areas which are much needed not only to achieve net-zero, but also for good governance and for a better world as envisioned in the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

 

The Association will strive to identify actionable steps  to promote alignment with ESG principles.

The ​ESGAI will cooperate with  relevant stakeholders and forward-thinking  entities such as companies, private equity funds, venture capital funds, impact funds, HNIs, insurance companies, pension funds, banks, non-bank finance companies as well as Government policymakers.

ESGAI's activities include:

  • Encouraging the flow of equity and debt capital to companies which are making rapid strides towards net zero, climate resilience and are taking steps towards energy transition

  •  Promoting the adoption of best governance practices in companies and financial institutions so that capital flows can be sustained

  • Advancing contributions to society, particularly for those who are disadvantaged

  • Making  policy reform recommendations to regulators and Government agencies. ESGAI and its members will engage with policy makers  on significant governance, and ESG/sustainability-related issues and disclosure

  • Organising ESG-related events so members and stakeholders can share best practices and experience of ESG.

  • Deliver high-quality training on the key dimensions of ESG

Leadership

The ESG Association of India is a sister association of the Indian Limited Partners Association (INLPA) (click here for details).

 

It shares a common leadership with INLPA comprising of professionals with backgrounds at the Asian Development Bank, IFC, UBS, CPPIB, KKR, Harvard Business School, the IITs and other reputable organisations.
